My Happy Birthday

Last week I turned 36. I have nothing against getting older, I just feel like I haven't matured enough yet. When does that happen? Do you ever feel like you are older than 18? I certainly hope so. I am longing for the day where I am referred to as "Old Lady Beth who has much wisdom and speaks nonsense." That's my dream.

Anyways, Brett took Tyler on his first camp out with the boy scouts on my birthday, James spent the weekend with his dad, and that left Matthew and I to our own devices. Much fun was had. Friday night a good friend of mine threw me a party with lots of friends from church. She made different courses of food, each accompanied by a special spritzer drink and my own special Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes. We played games, like, pin the nose ring on a blown up picture of my head, lots of xbox kinect, and a few board games. It was a blast. Matt was able to come too, so that was awesome as well. Saturday Matt and I went to Disneyland for the day, did all the things we wanted to do, and then went to church and back to my friends for another dinner and games. I so appreciated all the things my friends did for me, there were so many surprises, I had no idea they had all the things planned that they did. Some how, I ended up with a tutu and ballerina slippers. That was another dreamy dream come true.

Stock Car Racing

Matt's in Cub Scouts this year, last week they had their annual stock car race. We were given a block of wood and a set of wheels to carve, paint, and assemble into our idea of a winning vehicle. I think next year we won't wait until the eleventh hour to do it, now that I've seen what some of these overachiever parents can do. Seriously. It was a little obvious which kids actually made their own. Nonetheless, I think everyone enjoyed watching and participating in the races.

New Years

We spent New Years with our very large church family. It was a blast. Dinner was catered by a delicious barbecue restaurant, the church was packed with video games, bounce houses, and lots of activities for all the kids. After dinner we played games, chatted with good friends and had cheesecake. Around nine we all went ice skating and played broom ball until midnight. It was seriously a good time for every age group.

Here's our pastors heading up the game, Protestant Bingo. Ha! Instead of numbers there were theology words.

Andrea and I working on our sculpture of Pastor Bobby's head. Every table received a bag of art supplies to capture a pastors likeness. Then we got judged to see who did the best.

Creepy! Clay over a styrofoam ball and a cut pipe.

Mike carving out the nose and putting on the finishing touches.

All the Bobby heads.

I still think ours was the best.

James playing broom ball.

Tyler, in the red sweatshirt, playing too.

This was Matthews first time ice skating, he did great and totally loved it.

Sharon! This was her first time too.
